| Managing Director Shaun Valentine
has worked in the construction industry for 26 years having
begun his career with Ashby and Horner Joinery serving an
approved apprenticeship as a Hardwood Bench Joiner.
Having qualified Shaun diversified his career into Contract
Management working for many years in senior positions for
some of the largest construction companies in the UK.
Graduating from Nottingham Trent University in June 1999
with a 2:1 Honours Degree in Building and Construction Management
he applied for Corporate Membership of the Chartered Institute
of Building (CIOB) at which he had been an Associate member
since 1989.
In 1999 he achieved Chartered Status of the CIOB entitling
him to use the designation MCIOB.
He continued to study and is now a Fellow of the CIOB FCIOB
and a Fellow of the Association of Building Engineers FBEng
along with a Member of the Association of Project Managers
MAPM and a Member of the Institute of Directors
MioD.
Shaun currently lectures at the University of East London
for civil engineering students studying a Masters Degree
in Engineering. Also he is a part time lecturer at Oakland’s
College in Borehamwood delivering tutorials for candidates
studying for the Direct Membership Examinations (DMX) and
Professional reviews.
He now offers support to companies such as Willott Dixon
and other major construction companies, visiting their offices
weekly to offer both DMX tutorials and assistance with writing
the report for the Professional Review.
As a qualified Panel Chairman for the CIOB, Shaun often
conducts Professional Interviews giving his time voluntarily
on these days to conduct interviews for future CIOB Members.
He is currently Chairman for the CIOB Essex Centre and on
the National Council at the Regional Council meetings.
Shaun has been a member of the Essex Branch committee of
the CIOB since 1982.
